Setting sail from Luxor
Prepare to be amazed - the thin belt of greenery along the banks of the Nile in Upper Egypt gives Luxor a lush setting for an extraordinary collection of tombs, temple complexes and stone structures that hint at the magnificence of this former Ancient Egyptian capital. The modern city on the East Bank is home to the traditional bazaar, with a stunning view of the Nile, whilst on the west bank you will find the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens, and visit amazing necropolis and mortuary temples.
Our tip
Strenuous sightseeing is a must to make the most of this magnificent city so start early to visit the sites in the cool of the morning – use the middle of the day to sleep and relax.
