AmaWaterways review: Christmas markets on the Danube
My fiancé and I thoroughly enjoyed our river cruise holiday along the Danube with AmaWaterways in November, and turned out... Read more
The most unforgettable destination I've visited has to be South Africa.
Touring from Jo'burg eastward to Swaziland, round the coast of Durban to Port Elizabeth and arriving into Cape Town was amazing. Seeing the Big 5, walking with elephants, sampling the gorgeous South African wine and witnessing the contrast from African roots to modern day tourism in the space of three weeks was extraordinary!
Waking up in a different destination every day is the best feeling any traveller can encounter, especially when you haven’t had to move a muscle to get there.
Cruising makes this possible, bringing the destination to you and allowing you to sample as much of that culture and way of life as you desire.
Years in travel: I've worked in travel for 9 years, after studying Tourism Management at university.
Years working at Mundy Cruising: 5 years.
First job in travel: I started in travel at Royal Caribbean International, back when the company was tri-branded, working as a Customer Service Executive dealing with all things from ensuring dietary and medical requirements were met, adding flights, hotels and transfers, even escorting ship visits.
First cruise: I worked on a Royal Caribbean sailing on board Adventure of the Seas from San Juan to Southampton, assisting guests with their Crown and Anchor queries and booking future cruises as part of the Loyalty department. It was a 14 day trip and I was lucky enough to enjoy the shore excursions on St Thomas, St Kitts, St Lucia, St Maarten. It's definitely where I pick up my passion for cruising.
First cruise with Mundy Cruising: I was truly spoilt with my first cruise with Mundy. A 5-night voyage in the Med with Crystal Cruises aboard the stunning Crystal Serenity. It was eye-opening at just how special you're made to feel and the quality of food and service onboard - what an introduction to luxury cruising!
Best cruise dining experience: My first ever cruise with Silversea was aboard Silver Cloud and I loved La Terraza. The setting couldn't have been more perfect; outdoors, at the aft of the ship, the sun began to set on the horizon. The canvas of deep oranges, light reds and glimmers of yellow was the most romantic back drop for one of the most tasty, yummiest Italian meals I've ever had.
Best non-cruise holiday: Hands down, my best non-cruise holiday was a solo trip to South Africa. I joined a small group tour from Jo'burg to Cape Town including my first ever safari in Kruger National Park. I loved this holiday - I adored the people, the culture, the wildlife and the landscape. Simply the best!
Interesting fact about yourself: I'm an only child, as is my fiancé. We both value our friendships hugely, our friends are our family, and we're incredibly lucky with that.
