Our insight
Baltic cruises operate from May to September, when the weather is more predictable. Plan for rain and cool breezes: sunshine and warmth will be a bonus. We recommend travel during the months of June and July for the White Nights (those evenings when the sun doesn't set), whilst in July and August you can expect the best weather, with temperature highs of anywhere between 15 and 25°C.
The jewel of any Baltic cruise has to be St Petersburg - we recommend those with a longer stay: two or even three days. Make sure you budget for lots of excursions here to make the most of your visit. Other ports of call will vary from itinerary to itinerary - from Warnemunde you can take a long day trip to Berlin, which is a must if you have not visited before.
Each of the Baltic capitals has a different atmosphere and appeal: you can choose between cultural treasures in museums and galleries, or venturing out into the countryside to learn more about daily life and folklore.
